It was incredibly soft and I knew he was getting the gentlest thing next to his body. My only advice is to use it after the drooling stage. Otherwise the baby drools, then the wool attaches to their face and they can get annoyed. I also loved fleece sheets to make it nice and cozy. This definitely needs to be washed on cold/gentle, and dried on NO HEAT or hung dry. I even resold this at a great price, I would highly recommend it.
