Question About Lowering The Mattress In My Babies Crib?
She’s 7 months old and probably very soon she will be able to pull herself up. Checked the instructions w/ the crib and if you lower the mattress you have to remove the front rail b/c it turns into a bed then. Well I can’t do that so is there anything I could put over the crib to insure her saftey? Like how the have baby nets and such even tho a net won’t work lol is there anything out there to help this problem or will I have to just buy something else? It’s a simplicity crib if that matters.

Any standard crib should should be able to lower the mattress and still have the side rails on. Then, when it is time you can change it to the toddler bed style. What brand/model crib do you have? I would suggest calling the manufacturer. I’m sure their customer service could explain your best options. I work for an online baby retailer (www.babyage.com) and I can honestly say I’ve never heard of a crib that you couldn’t just lower the mattress. I’m sure there has to be something in the safety regulations that says it has to be able to.
after you lower the mattress you should be able to put the rail back on otherwise the crib makers weren’t thinking. if i were you i would call the manufacture to see if part of the instructions are missing because if they made the crib that wont be safe for the entire time they say a child should be able to use it, they should have to pay for one that will. it doesn’t make sense to make a crib that turns into a bed when you wouldn’t be able to use it for a good year or more of the child’s life.
That sounds really strange?? UMM i would be buying another cot that can allow the mattress level to be dropped low and still have the cot rails on!!
Surely there’s a way to get the front rail on after the mattress has been lowered.
If not, I’d avoid those nets at all costs. Babies can get fingers caught, and wrap themselves up an all sorts of strange ways.
I believe they also have additional rails you can clamp on top of the existing rails to make them higher, leaving the mattress in the same place.
You can also start using a playpen.
You should be able to lower the mattress down. On all four legs of the crib, there should be screw holes so you can lower it down. On my crib there are four or five notches.
There should be at least three stages for a simplicity crib. The second stage would function as a crib with a lower mattress platform so baby does not fall out. You can reach the second stage (The I’m a mobile baby now) by first removing the crib rail, then lower the mattress platform, then replace the crib rail. Call the manufacturer and ask them for clarification if the instructions skips the replace rail part. If they can’t help you then buy another crib with a better customer care support team.
The rule of thumb is that when the child begins to pull up, lower the crib mattress. It’s not advisable to turn the crib into “bed mode” until the child demonstrates the ability to climb out of the crib on her own.
they have mesh rails for toddler beds at walmart, that should fit it, in the baby section
